On March 4, 2018, at about 12:30 a.m., a 20-year-old female reported to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Police that she had been sexually assaulted in a portable building located on the VA Hospital property located at 4500 S. Lancaster Road.  Dallas Police assisted U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Police with the follow-up investigation, and Zachariah Duntay Smith (Black male 24 years old) was identified as the suspect who committed this offense.  An arrest warrant was obtained.  On April 4, 2018, members of the Dallas Police Fugitive Unit apprehended Suspect Smith. Zachariah D. Smith is currently at Lew Sterrett Jail on a $25,000 bond, charged with Sex Assault. Suspect Smith has prior arrests for Theft and Possession of Marijuana.
