Fatality Accident on Canada Drive

On April 10, 2018, at approximately 7:21 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a major accident at the 1400 block of Canada Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered two vehicles and four victims at the scene. Detectives determined the driver of the white minivan intentionally drove eastbound into the westbound lane of 1400 Canada Drive colliding her vehicle into a truck. All victims were transported to an area hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue.

The driver of the mini van, Shamyia Walton, a 36-year-old Black female, and the occupant of the truck, Thois Hutchinson, a 62-year old Black male were pronounced deceased.

At approximately 7:20pm, Dallas officers and Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident, with people reportedly pinned, at the intersection of Canada Drive and Ladd Street.

When first responders arrived at the location, they observed an accident involving a pick-up truck and a minivan/SUV; with the truck being on fire.

There were two people (an adult male and female) in each vehicle, all of which were taken to local hospitals. The driver of the minivan/SUV (female) and the passenger in the truck (male) were pronounced deceased at the hospital. The other two patients (one from each vehicle) were stable with undisclosed injuries.

Reportedly, bystanders were able to pull the occupants from the burning truck prior to first responders’ arrival.  We will update you with more information as it becomes available.
