The Gang Unit participated in a joint operation with the National Guard in South Dallas targeting drugs and gangs. The National Guard utilized a high altitude aircraft to assist gang elements in targeting/monitoring drug locations and building federal cases on drug houses throughout South Dallas. As a result, the Gang Unit made six drug related arrests.
On June 8, 2018, the Gang Unit assisted the DEA on a narcotics operation. Officers conducted two traffics stops, which led to two suspects apprehended. The suspects have ties to cartels in Mexico. The first traffic stop led to the seizure of 10 Kilos of Methamphetamine and a pistol. One suspect admitted to operating a Methamphetamine lab and gave consent to search his apartment. The search of the residence led to a large seizure of 70 Kilos of Methamphetamine.
