On July 9, 2018, at about 11:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 11700 block of Ferguson Road regarding a possible kidnapping in progress. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness. The witness said she asked the victim to walk with her to the store. The witness stated that she and the victim exited the witness’s apartment when they observed the known suspect Desmond Jennings, a 56-year-old Black male, walking towards them. The witness and the victim ran back inside the apartment. The suspect yelled for the victim to come out. The witness said the suspect forced his way in before they could close the door.

Once inside, the suspect grabbed a knife and forced the victim to leave with him. The witness lost sight of both the victim and suspect while retrieving her phone. Responding officers checked a list of vacant apartments they were given by onsite security, checked the area with a K-9 unit, and responded to other calls in the area with negative results.
