After confirmation from the medical examiner’s office, the suspect involved in the officer involved shooting on July 13, 2018, has been identified as Jesse Carrillo, A Latin Male 17.
On July 13, 2018, at approximately 4:45 a.m., the suspect was driving a stolen vehicle and was involved in an accident with an unoccupied vehicle in the 3400 block of Indianola Street. When the citizen came outside to investigate, the suspect fired a weapon at the citizen. The citizen was not struck. The suspect fled in the stolen vehicle and struck multiple vehicles during his getaway.
Officers responded to an active shooter call and subsequently located the suspect driving the stolen vehicle. Officers pursued the suspect into the 9300 block of Havencove Drive, where the suspect crashed into a creek bed. The suspect was ordered out of the vehicle by officers, and when he exited, the suspect was armed with a handgun. Officers ordered the suspect to drop the weapon; however, the suspect raised the weapon and pointed in the direction of the officers. The officers fired upon the suspect striking him. The suspect is deceased. There were no officers or citizens injured during this incident. The suspect’s weapon was located at the scene. The investigation is ongoing and will be documented on case number 152605-2018.
