Teamwork Results in Suspects Arrested for Aggravated Robbery

 

On August 14, 2018, officers responded to the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue in Highland Park, regarding a shooting.  According to witnesses a female was observed exiting the passenger door of a silver pickup truck and had an injury to her arm.  The male driver of the silver truck informed the witnesses that the female needed assistance. The male then fled the location in the silver truck. The female had a gunshot wound to her arm and was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Dallas Police detectives responded to the location and began canvasing the area for witnesses and video evidence. While on scene, detectives were informed that a vehicle accident occurred approximately a mile away within Highland Park city limits involving a silver pickup truck driven by Suspect Flowers. Suspect Flowers fled the accident scene into an active shopping center within the Town of Highland Park. Suspect Flowers was taken into custody by the Highland Park Police Department. He was injured and was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives then researched calls within the City of Dallas and noticed a 911 burglary call in the 4000 block of N Central Expressway. Detectives responded to the scene of the burglary call and contacted the caller who informed them that he observed a male and female suspect in a silver truck break into his vehicle and take property. According to the caller, as the suspects fled the location they drove at him in their vehicle in an attempt to strike him. The caller then fired multiple rounds into the vehicle striking both suspects.

The caller was transported to the Dallas Police Department Headquarters and interviewed.

Detectives filed two Aggravated Assault reports against the caller who shot the suspects. This case will be referred to the Dallas County Grand Jury.

The two suspects were charged for Aggravated Robbery.

At the time of this report the Highland Park Police Department stated they may be proceeding with charges of FSRA in regards to the Hit and Run of the accident the suspects had within their city limits.
