Homicide Arrest Made – 2700 Warren Avenue

On Saturday, September 1, 2018, at approximately 9:14 p.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the 2700 block of Warren Avenue.  Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound and the suspect on top of her.  As the officers approached them, the suspect stated that he had been shot.  The victim was transported to Baylor Hospital for her injuries.  The suspect was checked by Dallas Fire Rescue and no injuries were found.

During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect and victim were involved in a physical confrontation.  Witnesses heard a gunshot and observed the victim fall to the ground.  The suspect stood over the victim and pointed a weapon at her.  The witnesses also stated the suspect then shot into the crowd of people who were nearby.

The suspect was transported to Jack Evans Headquarters for an interview by Detectives.  The suspect admitted to the shooting.  Non-Fatal Shooting Squad was notified that the victim had died at Baylor Hospital because of her injuries. 

The suspect  Mitchell Ray Washington was arrested for murder and transported to the Dallas County Jail. (Please see PCA below)
