Suspect Arrested in the Death of Pregnant Female

On Sunday, September 23, 2018, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at 2610 Marburg Street. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Delashon Jefferson a 21-year-old black female, who was 8 months pregnant, and a second victim, Daveron Sanders B/M 25, with gunshot wounds.  

The victim, Jefferson, and the suspect, Lagarius Donnell Rainey B/M 25, were involved in a verbal argument and it escalated into a physical confrontation.  Family members forced themselves into the bedroom of the victim, attempted to stop the assault and the suspect began shooting at their direction. 

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported the victims to an area hospital.  The doctors saved the baby and then the victim died of her injuries.  Dallas police located the suspect near the scene and took him into custody.  Suspect Rainey was transported to Jack Evans Headquarters for an interview by the detectives. 

Suspect Rainey was arrested for Murder and transported to the Dallas County Jail.  (Please see attached PCA)
