Manslaughter Investigation – 4849 Haverwood Lane – 16-Year-Old Victim

On October 7, 2018, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Dallas Police located and arrested William Hester, a 19-year-old black male,  at 700 Clay Mathis Road in Mesquite for the death of Jakiyah Wrightsil. William Hester was transported to Dallas Police Headquarters and interviewed by a homicide detective. He admitted that the handgun discharged while he was holding it, striking Jakiyah Wrightsil and killing her. William Hester has been transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and will be charged with Manslaughter, a felony of the second degree.

On October 7, 2018, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Dallas Police responded to 4849 Haverwood Lane regarding a shooting. Upon arrival they found the victim Jakiyah Wrightsil, a 16-year-old black female, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire Rescue arrived and pronounced the victim deceased. Witnesses reported that there was a party at the apartment and several individuals fled prior to the arrival of police.
