Shooting at Belle Starr Drive

UPDATE December 14, 2018 at 9:30 a.m.

On Thursday, December 13, 2018, Kimmitt Smith, a 23-year old Black male, was arrested by Dallas police for the murder of Aaron Sims.  Kimmitt Smith was transported to the Dallas Police Jack Evans Headquarters, where he declined to speak with Homicide Detectives.  Kimmitt Smith was transported to the Dallas County Lew Sterrett Jail and has been charged with Murder, a First Degree Felony.

As a result of the investigation, it has been determined that Kimmitt Smith, a Black male 23-years-old, is responsible for the shooting death of Damion Sims at 2963 Belle Starr Drive. Smith is currently not in custody.

On Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at approximately 8:38 p.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at 2963 Belle Starr Drive.  Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Damion Sims a 27-year Black male, lying in the middle of the parking lot of the Daily Mart store with multiple gunshot wounds.  Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported the victim to an area hospital where he died of his injuries.
