Northeast Patrol Division Reaches 1,000 VIP’s

Today on March 9, 2019, the Northeast Patrol Division reach 1,000 Volunteers in their Volunteers in Patrol  (VIP) program, a first for the city to reach this mile stone. Since the Volunteers in Patrol started in 1992, it has continued to grow and help build a relationship between the community and the police department. This latest class contributed to helping Northeast reach 1,000 volunteers.

In 2018, the Volunteers in Patrol logged over 31,000 hours of patrol city wide. Every year the program grows and relationships are built. The VIP’s help the police department with many programs throughout the city. They assist with patrolling their neighborhoods as extra eyes and ears for their neighborhoods and they assist with programs such as the Police Athletic League.

We are honored to have citizens who are willing to volunteer to help keep Dallas a great place to live and visit. For more information on the VIP program, please contact Officer Kevin Kelley at 214-670-7772 or by email at kevin.kelley@dallascityhall.com.
