THE NEXT GENERATION OF COMMUNITY LEADERS!

The Dallas Police Department Office of Community Affairs and Youth Outreach Unit has launched a new initiative focused on youth for 2019! The “DPD YOUTH LEADERSHIP COUNCIL.” The program is a FREE leadership program designed to train up young leaders, giving them the opportunity to explore and develop their leadership potential.  The program offers a monthly leadership lecture series that will include workshops and outings focused on training in leadership skills.  It’s geared toward students who want to become involved in aspects of law enforcement and community engagement. This program is for any student, regardless of grades. We want youth that have a heart for service and those that are interested in sharpening their leadership potential.

The program has a six-month commitment. Students must be 9th-12th grades at the time of enrollment.  During their time in the program students will meet with Community and Law Enforcement Leaders.  Students will to attend leadership workshops and outings including but not limited to:

  • 21st Century Policing: Community and Police
  • Goal Setting and Attainment
  • Interviewing Skills and Communication Skills
  • Leadership in Action and Conflict Resolution

The application period has started, students can apply today! The deadline is March 25, 2019. The first session will be held Saturday April 20th 9am-12pm.
