At approximately ‪7:54 p.m., officers responded to a call with a suspect inside a business in the 7500 block of CF Hawn Freeway brandishing a weapon. When the officers arrived, the suspect ran outside the business and lodged himself underneath a vehicle.  Responding officers gave verbal commands for the suspect to surrender; however he refused.  The officers deployed a taser on the suspect, but it had no apparent effect.  The suspect, while still underneath the vehicle and armed, turned toward the officers with the weapon in his hand.  One of the officers discharged his duty weapon, but did not strike the suspect. The suspect was subsequently apprehended and transported to an area hospital for a medical condition.  

At this time, the suspect remains hospitalized in unknown condition. There were no officers or citizens injured during this incident.  The suspect is expected to be charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated assault on a public servant. This investigation will be documented on Case Number 106952-2019.
