The Dallas Police Department continues the investigation of the officer involved shooting by the Farmers Branch Police Officer. Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit have additional interviews and documentation to obtain. The department has obtained multiple videos through the investigation and search warrants. The department understands the communities concerns and will continue to conduct a thorough investigation in the interest of justice. The department will continue to provide progress updates on this investigation until we are complete

The Dallas Police Department has obtained additional video evidence in this case and continues to investigate this officer involved shooting. Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit will continue to interview witnesses along with the involved officer when he is released from the hospital. The Dallas County District Attorney is also conducting an independent investigation of this incident. Further updates will be added as the investigation progresses.
Original Post dated 6/12/2019
At approximately 7:00 p.m., officers from the Farmers Branch Police Department were monitoring a pick up truck that had been reported stolen out of the city of Irving. The parked vehicle, which was occupied by three individuals, was backed into a parking space at a shopping center located in the 11400 block of Emerald Street, Dallas, Texas.
As the Farmers Branch officers began to approach the vehicle, the driver of the stolen pick up began to pull out. One of the officers discharged their weapons striking the driver of the vehicle. The suspect who was driving the stolen vehicle was transported to Parkland Hospital where he was pronounced deceased from his injuries. The other two passengers were removed from the vehicle uninjured. They are being detained for questioning.
Because this shooting occurred in the City of Dallas, The Dallas Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit is conducting the investigation. One officer suffered a minor injury during this incident and was treated at a local hospital. There were no Dallas officers involved. This incident will be documented on Case Number 118344-2019.
