The deceased victim in this shooting incident has been identified as Johnny Roland Glover, 55 years old. The next of kin has been notified.

A suspect, 24 year old Derrick Florence, Jr., has been arrested and charged with Manslaughter, a Felony 2. Homicide detectives have identified the second shooter, and he’s still at-large. Detectives are waiting on the MEs office to identify the unknown victim so that they can start the next of kin notification process. The investigation is still ongoing.

At approximately 6:30 pm, Dallas officers responded to a shooting call in the 1100 block of Elm Street downtown. When they arrived, they found one adult black male victim deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Police located a second individual who had been shot. He is a 19-year-old black male. He was transported to Baylor Hospital. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.
During the course of this investigation, officers discovered that there was a confrontation between two groups that started at the corner of Elm and Lamar Streets. The confrontation continued as the group walked East bound on Elm. When they reached the intersection of Elm and Griffin, there was an exchange of gunfire between the two groups.
An innocent bystander was struck and killed while sitting at the bus stop in front of a nearby hotel. The second individual who was shot, was apart of the original disturbance.
Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. We are currently in the early stages of the investigation and will update you when more information becomes available. This incident will be documented on Case Number 140798-2019.
