Community Crime Alert – Deep Ellum Robberies

DEEP ELLUM OFFENSES

The following offenses share similarities that lead investigators to believe they may be related.

The first offense in Deep Ellum occurred on July 11, 2019, at approximately 1:35 a.m., at 2720 Elm Street in which the victim was approached by 2 Black male suspects.  The first suspect is described as a Black male between 5’00”-5’05” tall, weighing 190 pounds (Possibly named of Bonton). The second suspect is described as a tall and skinny Black male 6’00” tall, 170 pounds, wearing a white durag.

The two suspects approached the victim and asked him to smoke some marijuana. The victim agreed and took a drag of the marijuana causing him to pass out. When the victim regained consciousness, he noticed that he was missing property. This incident is documented on Case Number 139400-2019.

The second offense occurred on July 14, 2019, at approximately 2:30 a.m., in the 2500 block of Main Street. During the course of this offense, the victim was approached by a Black male between the ages of 20-30 years old, wearing a blue pajama pants and a gray shirt. The suspect offered the victim to take a drag of what he thought was marijuana. The victim then passed out and when he awoke, he also noticed he was missing personal property. The victim was located passed out by officers as they were conducting foot patrols in the Deep Ellum area.

A third offense occurred on July 14, 2019, at approximately 3:00 a.m., when officers were conducting foot patrols and located the victim passed out. The victim stated to the officers that he was approached by a Black male suspect between 20-30 years old, and was offered a drag of what he thought was marijuana. After taking the drag of marijuana, the victim passed out before being discovered by officers. While the victim was being treated at the scene, he realized he was missing his personal property.

Arrest in the Central Business District.

On July 11, 2019, officers were conducting surveillance in the 1000 block of Commerce Street when they noticed three known suspected drug dealers speaking with the victim. The victim walked with the suspects to a Dart bench. One female suspect was able to convince the victim to walk with her to the 300 block of S. Market Street. While at this location, all three suspects assaulted the victim and took his personal property.  All three suspects were arrested. This incident is reported on Case Number 140170-2019.
