Not Just Your Ordinary Fishing Trip

On July 17, 2019 at 9:20 a.m., a father and his two sons went out to Lake Ray Hubbard for a father/son fishing trip. Little did they know that they were in for an adventure. The father noticed that the boat was beginning to sink and was able to call 911 for help. Officer Daniel Kessenich, #10933, was off duty and happened to be listening to the police radio when he heard the dispatcher calling for rescue assistance at Lake Ray Hubbard.

Officer Kessenich, who normally works 3rd Watch, immediately headed to the Dallas Police Department rescue boat. Officer Kessenich called for assistance as he got the boat ready to go out. Officer Brian Hapain, #8999, and Officer Casey Tharp, #9325, joined Officer Kessenich to help with the rescue.  The officers were able to see the father and his two sons clinging from a tree in the lake and were able to safely bring the family to shore. Now, this father and his sons have quite the family story to share about their fishing trip.

Kudos to these officers for their fast action to help save the lives of this family!
