Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Reginal Reshard Knox, a 21-year-old Black male was responsible for the death of victim Gerald Harris. On October 2, 2019, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force arrested Knox as he exited a Greyhound bus. He was transported to the Dallas Police Homicide Unit and interviewed by detectives. After waiving his Miranda rights, he confessed to his role in the offense. Knox was placed in jail for his capital murder warrant. His bond will be determined by a magistrate.

On Monday, August 19, 2019, at approximately 12:12 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at 9205 Skillman Street. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Gerald Wayne Harris, a 59-year old Black male, lying on the ground in a shopping center parking lot with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported the victim to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.
