On Saturday, August 24, 2019, at approximately 7:24 p.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at the Lamplighter Hotel located at 9033 E. R L Thornton Freeway.  Upon arrival, officers found the unnamed victim on the floor in a motel room with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.  Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.  The victim’s name will not be released pending the next of kin notification.

Through the initial investigation, Homicide detectives determined that suspect Jose Luis Tamez-Cano, a 31-year old Latin male, is responsible for the murder of the victim.  Dallas police have obtained an arrest warrant for suspect Jose Luis Tamez-Cano, and he is still at-large.  The Dallas Police Department Homicide Unit is asking for the public’s assistance and is encouraging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect to please contact Detective Nathan Heathcote at 214-671-4320 or via email:  nathan.heathcote@dallascityhall.com.  Please refer to case number 172267-2019.
