Fifth Annual Together We Ball

The Fifth Annual ‘Together We Ball’ event was held August 25, 2019, at P.C. Cobb Field House at Dallas Fair Park. The evening’s festivities included two basketball games. First up was the high school game featuring student athletes from various schools across the metroplex. The second game featured local pastors, community leaders and members of the Dallas Police Department.

The participants in the second game were chosen in a pre-game draft. The draft’s Mr. Irrelevant (the last person chosen in the draft) was Sergeant Leroy Quigg of The Dallas Police Department’s Gang Unit. The game was competitive, but the real winner of the evening was our community.

In addition to the basketball competition, the event included various vendors, City of Dallas Departments, face painting, carnival games and giveaways.

‘Together We Ball’ was created when representatives from the African American Pastors’ Coalition approached members of the Dallas Police Department with the idea of uniting the police department and the community through basketball. Each year this community event continues to expand becoming another positive community partnership ensuring the community and the police department can join together as one.
