Dog Attack on Starkey Street

On November 15, 2019 at about 11:20 a.m., the victim was walking in Beckley Heights Park in the 6000 block of Starkey St. when she encountered 3 pit bulls who attacked and mauled her causing serious bodily injury. Witnesses observed the dogs attacking the victim and directed officers to where the dogs ran once they broke off the attack. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she is in critical condition.

Officers located the dogs in a yard of a house in the 6600 block of Starkey St. Officers contacted the resident who advised that the dogs belonged at the house. It appears that the dogs dug under the fence and escaped before attacking the victim.

As a result, the dogs were seized by Dallas Animal Services and detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Martha Yescas-Lira, L/F 44yrs old, the resident at the house, for the charge of Attack by Dog Causing Serious Bodily Injury, a 3rd degree felony. Ms. Yescas-Lira was arrested a short time ago and taken to the Dallas County Jail.
