On December 10, 2019, Dallas patrol officers were investigating an active shooter call in the 2600 block of Lenway Street. Upon arrival, officers met with a witness who said that she had been inside her residence when she heard loud banging at her front door. The witness went to investigate and observed a Black male standing in front of her door. The suspect ordered the witness back inside her residence and to close the door.  Shortly after the witness went back inside her residence, she heard several gunshots from inside the residence next door.

Officers went to the next door residence to make contact and to ensure that no one was injured inside. The officers found a door ajar and made contact with several individuals attempting to leave. Officers also observed in plain view what they believed to be marijuana on a table. The officers contacted the Narcotics Unit who responded to the scene and executed a search warrant.  The following are the results of that search warrant:

Jamarian Hewitt / Black male / 32-years-old – Possession of Marijuana
