Arrest Made in the Homicide Investigation of Mohamed Koroma

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Lorenzo Payne, a 23-year-old Black male is responsible for the death of Mohamed Koroma on November 13, 2019.  On December 31, 2019, Payne was arrested on unrelated warrants and transported to Jack Evans Police Headquarters to speak with detectives.  Payne was read his Miranda Warnings but waived those rights and agreed to speak with detectives.  Payne admitted to shooting inside the victim’s vehicle and selling the pistol used in the murder.  Payne was placed in jail for his unrelated warrants and murder.  His bond will be set by a magistrate.

On November 14, 2019, at 8:33 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call at 10100 Forest Ln. Upon arrival, they observed the victim, Mohamed Koroma, a 24-year-old black male, in the front seat of a black Chevrolet SUV with a gunshot wound. DFR pronounced the Complainant deceased at the scene. Witnesses in the area reported seeing a black male with dreadlocks exit the victim’s vehicle after the victim was shot, and return moments later in a silver 4-door sedan, with front end damage and a spare tire on the front driver side, with another black male and a heavyset black female. The suspect fled the location in the silver 4-door sedan Southbound on Forest View Street.
