On January 1, 2020, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of a convenience store at 1200 Morrell Avenue. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, Kerwin Clemons, a 35-year-old black male, who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. Dallas Fire and Rescue transported him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Witnesses at the location reported that the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated when the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim. Through the course of the investigation the suspect was identified as Stanley Jemison, a 59-year-old black male. Dallas Police made contact with the suspect at his house and he was brought to Dallas Police Headquarters, where he admitted to detectives that he shot the victim. The suspect was transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with murder, a first-degree felony. His bond will be set by a Dallas County Magistrate.
