Update: February 18, 2020

On February 15, 2020, Ruben Mendoza, an 18-year-old Latin male, was arrested by the Dallas Police Fugitive Unit for the murder of Ivan Zarraga which occurred on December 29, 2019 at the 9900 block of Rhoda Lane in Dallas. Ruben Mendoza was interviewed by detectives with the Dallas Police Homicide Unit and admitted to his involvement in the murder. He was transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with capital murder, a capital felony. His bond was set at $1,500,000.00 by a Dallas County Magistrate.

On Sunday, December 29, 2019, at approximately 11:53 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call at 9907 Rhoda Lane.  Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified Latin male in the middle of the street with multiple gunshot wounds.  Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported the victim to Baylor Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The victim did not have any identifiers on his person; therefore, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office will attempt to confirm his identity. 

On Tuesday, December 31, 2019, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the body found in the middle of the street as Ivan Antonio Zarraga Martinez, a 20-year old Latin male.
