Arrest Made: Homicide Investigation of Jonathan Nchekwube

During the follow-up investigation, homicide detectives determined that Damian Moody, a 24-year old Black male, was responsible for the killing of the victim, Jonathan Nchekwube, a 30-year old Black male on, Thursday, November 21, 2019. 

On Thursday, January 2, 2020, Damian Moody was arrested for murder and transported to Dallas Police Jack Evans Headquarters, and detectives interviewed him.   Suspect Moody was read his Miranda warning rights, and he refused to provide a statement.  After the interview, he was transported to the Dallas County Jail and charged with murder.

On November 21, 2019, at approximately 6:05 p.m., Dallas police responded to a call regarding two individuals fighting at 9800 LBJ Freeway eastbound near Skillman Street.  Upon their arrival, they found the victim, Jonathan Nchekwube, a 30-year-old Black male on the freeway suffering from injuries sustained during the altercation.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where he died from homicidal violence.  Anyone with information regarding this offense should contact Detective Curtis, at 214-671-3633 or  Please refer to case #235126-2019.
