UPDATE January 18, 2020 at 8:15 p.m.
The original aggravated assault offense that occurred during the basketball game between Kimball and South Oak Cliff High Schools on January 11, 2020, has been upgraded to Murder due to the passing of victim, Marc Strickland, today at approximately 2:59 p.m. The 15-year-old Black male juvenile suspect remains in custody.
The Dallas Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit will continue to be responsible for the investigative follow-up regarding this murder offense.
Update January 12, 2020, at 5:45 p.m.
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a 15-year-old black male, was responsible for the shooting at 9191 South Polk that left an 18 year old in critical condition. On January 12, 2020, the 15-year-old turned himself into police headquarters and has been charged with Aggravated Assault. The other two persons of interest identified, are also juveniles and will not be charged.

On January 11, 2020, at about 9:10 p.m., an altercation occurred inside the Davis Field House at 9191 South Polk Street Dallas, TX. During the altercation, the victim, an 18-year-old Black male was shot and transported to an area hospital in serious condition.
