Update: July 16, 2020

On January 24, 2020, at approximately 3:10 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting at 2100 N Pearl Street near Klyde Warren Park.  The complainant, a 30-year-old Hispanic female, was shot multiple times as she sat in the front passenger seat stopped at the red light. The complainant’s fiancé who was driving realized she had been shot and called police. Officers and paramedics arrived, and the complainant was transported to a nearby hospital. Assault detectives responded to the scene. Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to gather video footage of the offense and obtain the state of Iowa vehicle license plate registration on the suspect vehicles.  The suspect vehicle, a black Ford Edge, can be seen on the video slowly driving off from the scene while being closely followed by a black Chevrolet Equinox. Video Evidence from local businesses further showed the suspects outside of the vehicle prior to the shooting and showed the suspect vehicles fleeing northbound on the Dallas North Tollway immediately after the shooting.

Detectives obtained over 30 search warrants and subpoenas during the investigation and were able to identify seven suspects involved in the offense. These suspects have an extensive criminal history and should be considered ARMED and DANGEROUS:

The evidence and statements obtained revealed the suspects came to North Texas on January 23, 2020, and allegedly intended to be involved in prostitution while in Texas. The suspects then plotted to rob the complainants during the early morning hours of January 24, 2020, as they planned to set up the complainants near a business on McKinney Avenue.

The Dallas Police Assaults Unit worked in collaboration with the Davenport Major Crimes Unit and Gun Investigations Unit, Iowa State Patrol, Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, the Rock Island Police Department, East Moline Police Department, Illinois Secretary of State Police, and the Kansas State Highway Patrol. The Dallas Police Department is grateful for the assistance of these agencies throughout the investigation.
