Arrest Made in Homicide on Greenville Avenue

On February 10, 2020, at 11:25 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at 11911 Greenville Avenue, the District at Greenville Apartments. Several tenants of the apartment complex reported hearing males arguing in an apartment unit, followed by gunfire. When officers arrived, they detained the suspect, Tyson Wilson, an 18-year-old Black male, along with two other witnesses. The victim, Jeffrey Martinez-Suarez, a 20-year-old Latin male, was found inside of the apartment unit with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital by Dallas Fire and Rescue, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The suspect was interviewed at Dallas Police Headquarters and admitted to shooting the victim, his roommate, after an argument between the two and their other roommate escalated. The suspect claimed that he was acting in self-defense after the victim and their other roommate attacked him. The suspect was subsequently transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with murder, a first-degree felony. His bond will be set by a Dallas County Magistrate.
