Homicide on Ferguson Road

On February 9, 2020, at approximately 2:14 p.m., Dallas police responded to 8850 Ferguson Road regarding the health and welfare check of victim Latiffiney Rodgers, a 26-year-old Black female.  The victim was found deceased with injuries that supported homicidal violence.  After speaking with family members, it was determined that the victim’s two children and their father were unaccounted for.  Detectives discovered a history of domestic violence between the victim and the children’s father, Johnnie Palmore, a 33-year-old Black male.  Based on this information and the belief that the kids may be in danger, a regional Amber Alert was issued that went out to all local law enforcement agencies in the region.

Officers followed up on leads throughout the evening and throughout the night.  On February 10, 2020, detectives received intelligence that suspect Palmore was inside an apartment in North Dallas with the two children and was becoming agitated.  As Dallas SWAT breached the door in an attempt to rescue the children, suspect Palmore took his own life.  The children were unharmed during the entire incident and were checked out by medical personnel.  They were released to the custody of Child Protective Services.  At no time did any Dallas Police Officer discharge their weapon.  This incident will be documented on case #027100-2020.
