Officer of the Year – Sergeant John Nash, III

On February 19, 2020, Sergeant John Nash III, #6386, was awarded Officer of the Year for 2019 by the Dallas Community Police Awards Committee.  A breakfast ceremony was held in his honor at the Clubs of Prestonwood.

Sergeant John Nash III, #6386, has been a valued member of the Dallas Police Department since June 1990. Over the course of his 29-year career, Sergeant Nash has received 80 commendations for outstanding job performance from supervisors, citizens and fellow officers and repeated dedication to the citizens of Dallas. 

For more than 18 years, Success North Dallas has recognized an Officer of the Year for the Dallas Police Department. Jan Klodner (DCPAC) had the honor of hosting this inspiring awards presentation.  During the ceremony, a well known artist, Rolando Diaz, painted and donated a picture to the Dallas Police Department.

Sergeant Nash is currently assigned to the department’s Fugitive Unit.  His supervisor, Major David Davis, nominated him for this award mainly in part for his outstanding work performance as a supervisor.

Major Davis stated, “Sergeant Nash exhibits the characteristics needed as a First-Line Supervisor because of his willingness to lead from the front, responsiveness to the needs of the unit, whether it be reporting to a callback, or volunteering to assist team members with investigations.”   Sergeant Nash’s leadership has earned the respect of fellow supervisors and officers. Also, during Christmas Sergeant Nash leads his Fugitive Unit with “Adopt a Family” to ensure that a special family in the Dallas area has a blessed and special Christmas holiday.

The job knowledge and sound decision making exhibited by Sergeant Nash delivers extrinsic results.  Thank you, Sergeant Nash, for your hard work and dedication that recognized you as 2019’s “Officer of the Year”.  We are proud of you!!!
