On March 20, 2020, at 3:15 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a cutting call at 2600 Andjon Drive. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Gene Dromgoole, a 41-year-old black male, with a stab wound. Officers provided first aid until Dallas Fire and Rescue arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Witnesses reported seeing a black female fleeing the scene on foot. Makayla Eddie, a 20-year-old black female, was located nearby and indicated to officers that she was involved in the cutting. She was also transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation and later released. Makayla Eddie was interviewed by detectives with the Homicide Unit at Dallas Police Headquarters. She admitted to stabbing the victim, but claimed that it was in self-defense. She was transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with murder, a first-degree felony. Her bail will be set by a Dallas County Magistrate.
