In an effort to maximize the safety of our community and workforce during the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Dallas Police Department will immediately implement the operational changes to its 911 Call Center as outlined below. These changes are intended to reflect the best practices put forth by the Centers for Disease Control to mitigate the disease impact while still maintaining our public safety responsibilities. We will continue to monitor these changes and update as necessary.
- The 911 Call Center will begin asking screening questions from callers related to COVID-19. This change is intended to provide our first responders with critical safety information in order for them to take all appropriate precautionary measures. The 911 call takers will ask the following questions:
o In the last 14 days, have you traveled to the following countries:
- South Korea
o In the last 14 days, have you been in close contact with anyone known to have the Coronavirus?
o Are you experiencing any fever, cough or shortness of breath?
