On Monday, March 23, 2020, at approximately 10:58 p.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the 11600 block of Dennis Road.  Upon officers’ arrival, they found the victim, Jeremy Michael Averett, a 22-year old White male, slumped in the drivers’ seat with a gunshot wound to his upper right chest area.  Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. 

During the preliminary investigation, homicide detectives developed a suspect, Eissa Yanouri-Roa, a 19-year old Black male at another local hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen and hip area.  After being released from the hospital, he was transported to the Homicide Unit for interview purposes.  The suspect refused to give a statement, and he was immediately transported to the Dallas County Jail, where he was charged with murder. This investigation remains active at this time and will be documented on case number 056008-2020.
