On Friday, March 27, 2020, at 9:05 a.m., Dallas officers responded to a disturbance call in the 7000 block of Red Bud Drive. Upon arrival, officers observed the victim, Clarence Ross, a 51-year-old Black male, on a stretcher and being treated by Dallas Fire-Rescue. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased from his injuries. The facts of the preliminary investigation indicate that the victim and suspect, Christopher L. Davis, a 44-year-old Black male, were on a job site collecting brush and bulk garbage. While at the job site, the suspect and the victim became involved in a verbal argument, and it escalated into a physical confrontation. Suspect Davis assaulted the victim with his closed fists, causing his death.
The suspect fled the scene and subsequently drove to his residence where he surrendered to police.
The suspect was transported to the Homicide Unit, where he voluntarily waived his rights and admitted to the offense. After the interview, he was transported to the Dallas County Jail and charged with murder. The next of kin notification has been made.
