On May 19, 2020, at 8:07 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at the 6200 block of Belgrade Avenue regarding two people shot inside of a residence. Upon arrival, officers made contact by telephone with the suspect, Christian Morales, a 27-year-old Latin male, who was still inside of the residence. While officers were on the telephone with the suspect, two adults and several children exited the home. One of the adults had been shot and was transported to an area hospital, where he is in stable condition. None of the children had been harmed. After approximately 30 minutes, the suspect exited the residence and surrendered himself to Dallas Police. Officers made entry into the home and found the victim, Abigail Manriquez, a 26-year-old Latin female, deceased from gunshot wounds.
The suspect was transported to Dallas Police Headquarters and interviewed by a detective with the Homicide Unit. He admitted to shooting the victim, with whom the suspect previously had an intimate dating relationship, and the other adult male. He was subsequently transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with murder, a felony of the first degree, and aggravated assault, a felony of the second degree. His bond will be set by a Dallas County Magistrate.
