Homicide on Jamaica Street

On June 18, 2020 Trayon Bevele was arrested by Dallas Police for the murder of Charles Johnson that occurred on May 19, 2020 at the 4000 block of Jamaica Street. He was taken to Dallas Police Headquarters, where he admitted to shooting the victim, but claimed it was in self-defense. He was subsequently transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with murder, a first-degree felony. His bond will be set by a Dallas County Magistrate.

On May 19, 2020, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Dallas Police responded to the 4000 block of Jamaica Street in regards to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Charles Johnson, a 35-year-old black male, in the front yard of a residence with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire and Rescue responded and pronounced the victim deceased.
