Arrest Made in Homicide on Ferris Branch Boulevard

On May 23, 2020, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at 9600 Ferris Branch Blvd. Upon arrival, they made contact with the victim, Rufus White, a 45-year-old black male, who had suffered from a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital by Dallas Fire and Rescue and was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The suspect, Derrick Youngblood, a 43-year-old, black male, was located by responding officers nearby and transported to an area hospital for an injury he sustained during the shooting. He was later transported to Dallas Police Headquarters, where he was interviewed by a detective with the Homicide Unit and admitted to shooting the victim. He was subsequently transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with murder, a felony of the first degree. His bond will be determined by a Dallas County Magistrate.
