During this investigation, Homicide detectives determined suspect, Jahquan Kartrell Ferguson, a 19-year old black male, and three juveniles were responsible for the killing of the victim, Thomas Dewayne Scott. Suspect Ferguson was arrested, and he’s currently in the Dallas County Jail. The three juveniles were arrested and transported to the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center. They all have been charged with Capital Murder.

On Saturday, June 20, 2020, at approximately 11:59 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at Sam’s 99 cent Store located at 717 Ann Arbor Avenue. The victim, Thomas Dewayne Scott, a 43-year old black male, was found lying on the ground unresponsive with a single gunshot wound in the parking lot. The Dallas Fire paramedic transported the victim to an area hospital, where he succumbed from his injuries. Homicide detectives learned the victim left his vehicle running and unlocked. The unknown suspect entered the vehicle, attempted to drive away when the victim Scott waived at him to stop. The unknown suspect stopped, exited the victim’s vehicle, and shot him.
