Homicide at 3000 Municipal Street

On June 27, 2020, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting at William Blair Park located at 3000 Municipal Street.  Upon their arrival, they spoke with Mark Piper, a 51-year-old Black male and concealed handgun license holder.  According to Mr. Piper, he was standing outside his vehicle speaking with friends when he observed an unidentified male point a pistol at him before getting into the driver’s seat of Mr. Piper’s Dodge Charger.  Mr. Piper produced his own handgun and shot the male.  He died from his injuries.  Detectives interviewed Mr. Piper and several witnesses to the incident.  Based on the evidence and witnesses corroborating Mr. Piper’s account of the events, this case will be referred to a Dallas County Grand Jury.  Anyone with information regarding this offense is encouraged to contact Detective Belew, #7615 at 214-422-9275 or patty.belew@dallascityhall.com.  Please reference case #112942-2020.
