Enjoy a Safe 4th of July

The Dallas Police Department encourages everyone to have a happy and safe 4th of July. Although many of the festivities will be a little different this year because of the coronavirus, we encourage you to search the internet for events near you and refrain from shooting fireworks and/or firearms in the air. It’s illegal. Also, remember to maintain social distancing and wear your mask if you do find an event to attend.

  • The possession and use of fireworks is prohibited in the City of Dallas.
  • Those in possession of fireworks can be fined up to $2,000.
  • Discharging a firearm can result in 1 year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine.

In some cases, it can lead to a deadly conduct charge and can result in 2 to 10 years in jail and up to a $10,000 fine.

The Dallas Police Department will also be conducting a No-Refusal DWI Initiative from July 2nd – July 6th, 2020. Officers will secure a search warrant for a blood sample from all persons arrested for DWI who refuse to voluntarily give a breath or blood sample.

Help us keep you and your community safe during the 4th of July holiday by reporting any of these illegal activities to 9-1-1 or utilize the iWatch Dallas App on your smart device.
