On July 4, 2020, at around 4:00 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at the 12700 block of the N. Central Expressway Service Road, northbound. Upon arrival, they located the victim, a White male in his fifties, who had suffered from a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire and Rescue pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Officers responded to a second shooting call around the same time at 12900 Coit Road, regarding a White female who had also been shot. She was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. It was determined that the two shooting incidents were related and the suspect, Carl Randle, a 28-year-old Black male, was located by patrol officers nearby. He was subsequently interviewed at Dallas Police Headquarters and admitted to shooting the victim after an argument. He was transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with murder, a felony of the first degree. His bond will be set by a Dallas County Magistrate.
