Arrest Made in the Homicide Investigation on Gulden Lane

On Saturday, July 11, 2020, Dallas police responded to a shooting call that occurred at the Ronald Kirk Bridge located at 3100 Gulden Lane.  Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Christopher Alexis Rivera, a 16-year old Latin male, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head.  Officers also found another victim, a 21-year old Latin female, with a gunshot wound to her pelvis area.  Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced the victim, Rivera deceased at the scene, and the surviving victim was transported to an area hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

Homicide detectives learned that the victim, Christopher Rivera, and the suspect were involved in a verbal argument, and both started shooting at each other.  The surviving victim was shot during the crossfire.  Several hours later, suspect, Carlos Vidal Mendez, a 21-year old Latin male, was taken into custody and charged with murder on case #121311-2020.  The investigation is still ongoing.
