During the investigation, the Homicide Unit determined the suspect, Dwayne Andrew Brown, a 25-year old Black male, was responsible for the murder of the unknown victim at 7305 Chaucer Place. Detectives learned that he was in the Dallas County Jail for unrelated charges. The name of the victim will be released once the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office determined his identity.
On Tuesday, July 14, 2020, suspect Brown was transported to the Homicide Unit, and detectives interviewed him. During the interview, he waived his right and provided a voluntary statement admitting to killing the unidentified victim. The suspect was transported to the Dallas County Jail and charged with Capital Murder.

On Saturday, July 11, 2020, Dallas police were investigating a missing person at the Hidden Oasis Apartments located at 7305 Chaucer Place. Upon arrival, officers made forced entry. The unknown person appeared to have died from homicidal violence. The Dallas Co. Examiner’s office will attempt to determine the identity of the body through fingerprints analysis. The investigation is still ongoing.
