During this murder investigation, the Homicide Unit developed a suspect. It determined that suspect Tramon Leontra Montrel Williams, a 27-year old black male, was responsible for the murder of the victim, Alonte Demir Broadus-Hickem. On Tuesday, August 18, 2020, suspect Williams was arrested by the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force. He was transported to the Dallas County Jail and charged with murder.

On Saturday, August 1, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at 2800 July Alley behind the Deep Ellum Hostel. The responding officers found the victim, Alonte Demir Broadus-Hickem, a 21-year old black male lying on the ground in the alley with multiple gunshot wounds. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the victim to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries. The investigation is ongoing with no one in custody.
