Update: August 7, 2020

On August 4, 2020, Suspect Brice Johnson, a 20-year-old Black male, was arrested in Franklin County in the victim’s stolen vehicle on unrelated charges.  At the time of Suspect Johnson’s arrest, he was also in possession of personal items belonging to the victim.  Detectives traveled to Franklin County to speak with the suspect and further their investigation.  Suspect Johnson waived his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with detectives.  A capital murder warrant was issued.  His bond will be set by a magistrate.

On August 4, 2020, at approximately 5:55 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting at 9855 Shadow Way.  Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim, Derion Johnson, a 25-year-old Black male deceased inside an apartment from multiple gunshot wounds.  Anyone with information regarding this offense is encouraged to contact Detective Christopher Walton, #8479 at 214-671-3632 or christopher.walton@dallascityhall.com.  Please refer to case # 136410-2020.
