Arrest Made: In the Homicide Investigation of Ricardo Medina-Madriz

On August 14, 2020, Dallas Police arrested Jorge Esparza, a 22-year-old Latin male, for the offense of stalking, a felony of the third degree. Esparza was a person of interest in the investigation of the murder of Ricardo Medina-Madriz on August 9, 2020. Esparza was interviewed by a homicide detective and admitted to shooting and killing Ricardo Medina-Madriz. Esparza was subsequently transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with murder, a felony of the first degree.

Original Post: On August 9, 2020, at 11:45 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at the 3400 block of Jeffries Street. Upon arrival, officers located the victim,  Ricardo Medina-Madriz, a 27-year-old Latin male, with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire and Rescue transported the victim to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
