Today, the Dallas Police Department issued a new schedule for patrol officers in the Northeast Division. It began at 1 a.m., in an effort to improve on response times to Priority 1 calls.
This latest action stems from results of the KPMG study where the City of Dallas hired a contractor to conduct a staffing analysis of DPD. This analysis included a comprehensive review of departmental procedures and practices. Operational changes were identified with staffing efficiency and other areas.
Since implementing the pilot program in March with patrol officers at the South Central Division, the department has seen improvements with priority one responses. By the end of October, the staffing model will go into effect at the Southeast Division. The plan is to have all of the substations comply with the model by the end of the next fiscal year.
