On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, Suspect Rashad Aman Rayford, a 23-year old Black male, surrendered to the Dallas Police Department – Homicide Unit and was booked into the Dallas County Jail for murder.  A Dallas County magistrate will set his bond amount.

On Monday, October 19, 2020, at approximately 12:27 a.m., Dallas police responded to a call for service at an area hospital regarding an adult male who arrived with a gunshot wound.  Upon arrival, the officers were informed that the victim, Nicholas Nathaniel Slaughter, a 29-year-old Black male, had died from his injuries.  The Homicide Unit learned the victim was shot during an active shooter on foot call in the parking lot next to the Chocolate Lounge located at 2011 S. Lamar Street.
