Update 11/19/2020 at 10:30 p.m.

Through the course of the investigation, the Homicide detectives determined that suspect Keith Otoole Jackson, a 39-year-old Black male, murdered the victim.  On Wednesday, November 18, 2020, suspect Jackson was arrested and transported to the Homicide Unit for interview purposes.  The suspect was read his Miranda Rights, and he gave a voluntary statement admitting to killing Sarara.  After the interview, he was transported to the Dallas County Jail and charged with Capital Murder.

On Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at approximately 10:47 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at 5214 S. Lamar Street. Upon arrival, officers found the victim Siraj K Sarara, a 52-year old black male, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and pronounced him deceased at the scene. This investigation is ongoing, with no suspect in custody.
